I don't usually post religious thoughts but for once I feel like posting some thoughts I had today at Church.
Today our Stake President gave a great talk.
One point stuck out to me in particular. He said that if we are doing exactly what we want to do all of the time, we probably aren't as happy as we could be. He went on to describe what would happen if you let a four year old do whatever they wanted to do for a day. The four year old would probably eat Fruit Loops for every meal and would skip their nap. With all the sugar running in their body and the lack of sleep, we can bet that they will be cranky by evening time. By six o'clock at night you could offer them their favorite toy or movie but they would still scream at you. They may have done everything they wanted to, but they wouldn't feel good at the end of the day.
Although I am an adult on this earth, I am still a child to my Heavenly Father. Doing only what I want doesn't help me grow. I don't know what my life is supposed to look like, but He does. He has a road map for me and knows better. I need to remember to be humble as a child, to listen to my Fathers directions, and to trust that the end will justify the bumpy journey.
Anyway, I enjoyed the message!
Have a great week :)
Great message! I think this is a reason it's important to carefully consider callings that are extended to you or requests to speak in church or pray etc. They might be hard things that your initial thought would be to say no. However, if you try hard and pray for help, I have personally found that you can end up having a great experience.
