Road Trip

Caleb and I moved back to Spokane mid-August. Instead of settling down into our normal routine, we escaped on two last minute vacations. First we went backpacking with our friends Jared and Rachel to Stevens Lake in Idaho. Then we road-tripped from Spokane to the Redwoods and we hit up several bucket list places on the drive.  Here's the photo journey!

Our first stop was Multnomah Falls, Oregon. I've wanted to go here for several years. The pictures always look amazing! Unfortunately, I was a little disappointed with this stop. Maybe it was because in the pictures on the internet there are never tourists present. Maybe it was because the air was so smokey that we couldn't breathe properly. Maybe it was because Caleb and I woke up at 4 AM to go to the REI Garage sale before heading on our road trip. Maybe I was just being a Debbie Downer. Either way, we didn't end up spending too much time here.

We stayed the night in Portland. Our main reason for staying the night in Portland was because we wanted to eat at a diner called Doner Haus. Doner Haus came to Spokane Pig Out in the Park two years ago and we fell in love with their food. Unfortunately, when we got to Portland and looked them up we found out that they recently moved to Wenatchee, WA. :( Guess who should have done some research before their trip? Yep, us!

The next morning we drove from Portland to Cannon Beach. This place is as beautiful as the pictures! I'm in love with the Ocean on the Northwest coast. I love the sea-stacks and the fog! I could have spent an entire week just exploring this area and hope that someday we can plan a vacation where Cannon Beach is our destination. We didn't see a lot of animal life, but we found tiny baby sand dollars that were adorable.

The rest of the day was spent driving from Cannon Beach down the entire Oregon Coast until we reached the Redwoods. It was a long, long, long, long drive but at least the views were beautiful and we got to stop at the Tillamook Cheese Factory and try free samples!

We arrived at our camp spot late that night, pitched our tent, and went to bed! The next day and a half we explored the Redwoods.

Part of Jurassic Park: The Lost World was filmed in this area of the park!! I'm in love with Jurassic Park so this was exciting to me! :) You'll also notice my huge belly.

Of course the one picture strangers offer to take of you turns our blurry. Grreat!

We saw two seals eating fish in the water here! We also saw lots of fish, crabs, and several Elk.

Before leaving Utah we purchased a new to us vehicle that will be better for baby. To break it in we took it on our trip and drove it through a real Redwood tree! It barely fit!!

On our way home we stopped at Crater Lake and also Bend, Oregon. Crater lake was amazing! Again, it was smokey but so beautiful. I'd love to spend more time here so I could swim in the crater, take a boat tour around the water, and hike. I've wanted to go to Bend for a few years now because of the amazing biking they have there. We just stopped for dinner and went on, but it had a fun, hip, Moab feel to it which I loved.

Our trip was fast and furious and jam packed with so many places. I was exhausted when we got home. I'm short on time, so that's all you're getting tonight :) Get outside and go places friends!
