Lucky, blessed, happy

This weekend has been... too fun! I am kinda amazed that it turned out so well. It seems like I have had pretty routine weekends for awhile now ( the Hubapalooza last week was fun as well, but it was more of a spectator weekends versus this weekend where I got to actually DO things) but this weekend just kept a smile on my face.

Friday night we went thrifting. Caleb and I had plans to do the Mt. Spokane pond skim on Saturday and I wanted to find a rain coat to wear during it. We not only found one, but we also found this perfect little gem that I plan on using next year for Halloween. Can you guess what I am going to be?

Saturday we headed up to Mt. Spokane and did their pond skimming event! Wow, it was so much fun! I was so cold it was ridiculous, but worth it! I wish we had pictures of us actually on the water. Next time we will have to bring some paparazzi to take pics of us. At least I have after pics.

There is also a Youtube video that Caleb is in. Look for him at :13 and 1:47.

Saturday afternoon we cleaned up our apartment. When I say cleaned I mean that we took down the balloons from my birthday. Then Caleb tied me up in them. I never thought that being covered in balloons would be so fun, but dear friends, it is hilarious and something you should add to your bucket list immediately!

And lastly, we put purple streaks in my hair and I am thrilled! I've always wanted to have a fun color in my hair. Caleb is quite the beautician! :)

I love weekends.

Hubapalooza

Last weekend Caleb and I went to a bike race called the Hubapalooza. The riders blew my mind! It's awesome that there are such cool bike trails only ten minutes away from me. I got some fun pictures with my Nokia Lumia 1020. The camera on this phone is just amazing and this is one of the first times since I got it that I really got to use some of it's great features.

I added this pictures just so I could add this comment. A paramedic was surprised when he learned that I also bike and that I was the one that got Caleb into biking. People are surprised at what my hobbies are because of how girly I dress and the amount of makeup I plaster on my face...

I now know how to take action shots with my phone and I overused that feature at the race. :)

Caleb and I are hoping that we can practice these trails enough that we can enter in next years race. If we do enter I do not plan on doing the same jumps as a lot of these riders! Such as this one.

Yoinkies! The drop is probably 12-17 feet and the gap is about 8-10 probably. And kids do that!!! Maybe when Caleb and I decide to mix our genes we will come up with a creature brave enough to do it!

I have a busy week coming up at work :( but I will hopefully be able to blog again soon!

Au revoir mes amis!

***I just wanted to add that the competition was a downhill and enduro mountain bike competition but at the site there are also dirt jump ramps and that is why those are also pictured!

I'm old Ammie!!!!!

Happy Birthday Me!

I had a great birthday! My kids at school surprised me with flowers and lots of homemade birthday cards. My husband surprised me with balloons all over the ceiling and a homemade cake.

Over the weekend we did OLD people stuff like watch TV all day... Seriously. We watched two seasons of New Girl.

We did take a small break to do one fun new activity! I made it up. Let's call it... quickstories.

We each got six cards from my Apples to Apples game. Then we set up a timer for five minutes and we used those minutes to write a story using all six words from our Appples to Apples cards. Our stories were pretty great. I'll write one here for example:

On a cold, rainy night in San Francisco Evie found herself walking home alone. She had finished her shift at the mental hospital and found all four of her tires slashed. Fortunately, she had her cell phone. Unfortunatly the battery was dead. So, she started the walk home; four miles of of unpopulated territory. She felt as if she was living in an Alfred Hitchcock film and she was just waiting for the stunt people to jump from the shadows and cut her body into pieces. Her thoughts carried her away to dark and scary places so she started to run. As she neared a stop sign she noticed the trees beyond quivering. No, the rain is just getting to my head she thought. She squinted through the rain and noticed a towering important Pokemon glaring at her with jealousy... his name was Eevee.

Going to the gym sounds like a good idea I thought. Work out, get totally cut and develop some saintly muscles. Now I have never been the gym. I am a much more earthy person. Hiking, splitting wood, camping; Much more of an outdoors person (even tho I can't grow a beard and don't own flannel). But i decided it was time to give the gym a try. First thing I noticed when I opened the door was that I am literally knocked over by the smell! Horrendous! Inside I am expecting well behaved over weight regular people. Boy, was I wrong! It was like the Marx Brothers meets bad dogs, meets custards last stand. An array of circus freak looking, hormone raging, trigger happy nut jobs. "Why do people come here??" I yell as I run away.

The bold words or phrases were our cards we picked. Caleb and I had a lot of fun laughing about our silly stories. Surprisingly, it was pretty hard to write the stories in only five minutes! Our grammar is a little bit off but that's what you get when you're quickly writing a story that has to include six different topics.

We need more activities like this! We watch too much TV (obviously, right?) and I think our brains would deteriorate less if we used them more often.  :)

Too-da-loo Friends!

Rose: Pokemon is on Netflix... ten year old Ammie is SOOO excited! Okay 24 year old me is excited too. I know that's really nerdy, but things you like when you're younger don't necessarily go away later in life.
Bud: Caleb and I are getting a free lift ticket to Mount Spokane because our work with the Adaptive ski and snowboard program so we get to go snowboarding soon!
Thorn: It's only Monday!!!!
